The National Parks Sew-along!
Welcome to the National Park Sewalong! We're excited to be starting this fun adventure to celebrate the beautiful national parks in our great country. We are using Tula Pink's City Sampler Book as our patterns, so each week we will make one 6" block from her book. We're making the blocks in numerical order to keep things simple. The fabric we use each week will be solids based off of the color palette in each National Park's poster designed by the Anderson Design Group. I'm sure you would recognize the posters! They're on everything from fabric to posters to puzzles now. As an added, fun bonus, you will also receive a post card of the National Park with your fabric each week. Collect them, journal them in your City Sampler book, send them to friends, or frame them! How do you sign-up? This sewalong is not something that you sign up for. You run the sewalong independently and follow along when we share our blocks. We will have fabric bundles available on our Wednesday night Facebook Live videos (Wednesdays @ 4:30 PM EST) or you can purchase your bundle online. Some folks are ordered only every few weeks to avoid shipping costs weekly and that is okay, too! We will continue to have the fabric bundles in stock as long as there is demand.
So grab your copy of Tula Pink's book and let's get sewing! Purchase the Tula Pink City Sampler HERE!

Let's get started!
Week One - The Great Smoky Mountains National Park
We kicked off this sewalong with the National Park nearest and dearest to our hearts. Our shop is situated just outside the Smoky Mountains so we thought it only right to make this our first block.

Featuring Mama bear and her cubs. This was a fun block to make and we made it twice - because we accidentally mailed out the first block tucked inside a book that was ordered. The block traveled safely to New York where it will become part of a special lady's quilt. A happy accident!
I want to be able to provide a list of solids used in each block, but I have to be fully transparent. We were not expecting there to be such a positive turn out, so we weren't prepared to make the number of bundles that were ordered! So we had to substitute fabrics on some bundles. This was really okay because we carry 3-4 lines of solids and the colors matched so closely that you'd hardly be able to tell the difference. So below is a list of colors used in *most* of the bundles. You can use these colors as a reference if you are pulling your own fabrics from your stash or to re-order if you need more.
