Week 7 of "Meadow"
Here we are - flower 13 and 14! I laid out all my current flowers and all my current colors and I have a plan for what fabrics we need to add. They look so beautiful all laid together. I'm really looking forward to seeing this project finished, although I'm really enjoying the process.
I avoided red pretty hard, as it's not my favorite color, but I had to suck it up and pick out some reds and surprisingly I LOVE IT! I think it just had to be the right flower - ya know? I also really needed some lighter oranges, more peachy tones so that made a really pretty peach flower. I think these have to be my favorites so far.
On this red flower, I reused a grey piece from an earlier flower for my stem. I will probably do this a couple more times so that I can include more color and less black and grey fabrics in your weekly fabric pack. The greys and blacks make for really nice contrast and pops in your stems and leaves, but they're useless in the HST so I don't want to overload you with those.
The dot on that yellow leaf comes from a piece of fabric that I just loved and couldn't resist throwing in this week's pack. But when you see the fabric you may say "Really? All of this for a tiny circle?" But I think the rest of the piece, fussy cut how you want, will make for really interesting HSTs. Here is the piece:
See!? It can be blue or orange or peach, depending on how you cut! It's yours to have fun with!
I just wanted to shout out to all my stitchers who have been sharing your blocks on your social media pages. The reaction to our block of the week has been so positive and it's because of you guys who keep sharing us with your friends! Thank you so much. We had so many calls from people wanting to join that we decided to go back through and re-cut more block of the week kits! This has been such a fun summer stitch-a-long.
Speaking of summer, can you believe my little one starts school TOMORROW! Summer is over for her, back to a life with some semblance of routine and normalcy (but not too much, cause where's the fun in that?).
I have school shoes shopping to do! I will see you all around.
Until next week,
Sam @ Mt. Creek
